Snellville, Georgia – Day 1 of the NGS Hoops 2030 Elite 60 brought together a loaded group of young prospects at Brookwood High School in Snellville, GA. Read below about a few players that caught my attention.

’30 Nicholas Cannon – 6’7” SG from Greensboro Day (NC)is a fluid athlete that has tools to do some damage. Tremendous size for his position with more room to grow. Has a great shot from long range and blow by athleticism that leads to big time dunks through traffic. Uses his quickness to get downhill and does a great job finishing around the rim. Really hard to contain once he gets going. Excellent size and next level athleticism at the guard spot. Tracking as a national level prospect.

’30 Cannon Washington – 6’8” SF out of Landmark Christian (GA) powerful wing that can stretch the floor. Has a high motor and dominates the glass. Makes plays for himself at will and does a great job getting to where he wants on the floor. Very hard to contain at this stage with his creativity offensively. Can knock down shots from outside and gets physical on the defensive side of the ball. Strong competitor that makes his presence felt. National level prospect.

’30 Zee Foreman – 6’2” PG from Midtown HS (GA) tremendous guard prospect that got into the paint at will. Was really strong to either side and finished at a high level through contact. Showed a will to win that you don’t see that often from up and coming players. Made shots from deep range – made plays from the mid-post and rarely turned the ball over. Plays with great poise and does a good job controlling the flow of the game. Has excellent vision under pressure and takes really good shots. Won’t be surprised to see college coaches checking in with him early into his high school career.

’30 Jonathan Marshall – 6’7” SF from Bull City Prep (NC) extraordinary motor and explosive athlete. Caught any and everything around the rim for dunks. Crashes the glass and attacks weak closeouts with great efficiency. Uses his athleticism well and is always around the ball. Has solid form on his shot and showed enough promise from the perimeter. Plays hard and gives great effort. Should develop nicely with repetition.

’30 Daemeon Holmes – 5’10” PG from Cedar Grove HS (GA) has blitzing playmaking ability. Incredibly talented player with a tight handle and a natural scorer at the point guard position. Has good vision and moves well from east to west. Gets into the paint seemingly every possession that he has the ball. Really hard to contain and should be able to contribute at the varsity level immediately.

’30 Brandon Smith – 6’6” SF out of North Mecklenburg (NC) athletic wing that showed a smooth turnaround jumper and next level burst off of two feet. Threw down a few dunks in traffic and finished extremely well around the rim. Has good touch and doesn’t waste movements when getting elevation. Did well communicating and stayed involved in the action. Excellent size and athleticism at the wing spot with plenty of room to continue improving.

’30 Kalonji Cruz-Reid – 6’4” SG from Wellington Sports Academy (FL) athletic guard with size and a good motor. Crafty with the ball and attacked the rim at every opportunity. Does a good job getting downhill and finishing around the basket. Did a good job finding the open man when the defenses collapsed on him. Really solid prospect.

’30 Omari Alleyne – 6’5” SG out of Dacula HS (GA) big guard that plays a physical brand of basketball on both ends of the floor. Threw his weight around to wear down opponents and also showed he can step out to consistently knock down deep jumpers. Really solid defensively and guarded multiple positions comfortably. Uses his frame well and does a great job bodying up against different types of players. Strong guard that can make shots from outside and get physical inside. Excellent versatility.

’30 John Abbott – 6’4” PG out of Crossroads Christian (NC) big guard that scored it in bunches from deep range and got to the basket at a high clip. Has the size to see over the top of most defenders for pinpoint passes. Very solid handle and good pace for the game. Does a great job finding the open man and keeping defenders off balance. Can score it from long range or get into the paint and create. Really good size and court vision at the point guard position. Excellent big guard prospect.

’30 Asa Abdie-Waite Jr. – 6’4” CG out of Calvary Christian (GA) big guard originally out of England that came in as a relative unknown but made his presence felt. Knocked down shots off the bounce as well as in a catch and shoot role. Didn’t show any fear and played with great confidence. Highly competitive – skilled and has a high IQ for the game. Does a good job taking what the defense gives him and making the right play. Will have a chance to be a premier player in time.
