Mason Mckinney –  6’3/SF – Cherokee High School (GA)

Mason has good positional size, which is ideal for his grade, and had a very solid performance at camp. He shot the ball well from deep and was a tough iso scorer off the bounce. He’s not the most twitchy player, but he’s got a good burst, a quick first step, and is a threat whenever the ball is in his hands, and he has his mind set on getting to the cup. I did not see much when it came to his perimeter shooting, but that is not to say that he cannot produce from the mid-range or behind the arc. He may be able to get it done; it’s just that he played to his strength at camp, utilizing his length and skillset to dominate off the bounce. McKinney fits the mold of today’s generation two-guard. His display of scoring and defending at the Elite 60 Freshman Showcase demonstrated that he’s ready for prime time games this winter. Even as a freshman, McKinney is sure to be a spark right away. by Bilal Bejamin of 1st Love Basketball
