Next Level Scouting Player Evaluation From Summer Slam
Tysen Jefferson was impressive over the weekend for Next Era. The guard from Wharton High School has a nice skillset that allows him to be a playmaker off the dribble and plays with a pace that is always in control. He has a shifty dribble off isolation that is hard to contain and displayed the ability to score from the perimeter consistently and is a crafty finisher at the rim around defenders. He’s a player to watch in the class of 2027.
2028 G Kendrick Meredith is a two way point guard that plays the game the right way. Defensively he is a problem with his on ball defense. He’s efficient in his decision making and floor awareness and seems to make the best play every possession. Meredith is most effective downhill finishing in the lane around multiple defenders with either hand. He also showed the ability to shoot from the perimeter spot up and off the dribble which translates well at the next level. Keep an eye on Kendrick as he enters his first year at Newton High School.
Georgia Kings G TJ Shinkle emerges as a top standout in the 2025 class. Shinkle has quick release that is hard to defend and is aggressive as a threat to score around the perimeter. He shoots a high percentage from 3 consistently and creates opportunities for his teammates as focus is brought to him. He will make plays off the dribble and plays well with his teammates. Great on ball defender and a gives his team a competitive edge. Expecting a big season TJ this season at Lassiter.
Hill Jr is an intriguing prospect. Plays hard on both ends
2028 G Antonio Hill is a versatile prospect that caught our eye over the weekend with his game. Hill primarily runs the point but is capable of defending the 1-3 with his size and athleticism. He displayed the ability to create off the dribble and is a threat to score from the perimeter. He’s most effective attacking defenders with a nice skillset that is capable of getting by multiple levels of defenders to score. Defensively he’s a great shot blocker at the rim and rebounds well as guard. Keep an eye out for him at Huffman High School.
Landon Thomas has a strong physical presence when he plays the game. At 6’7 he’s able to make entry passes an ease for guards to find him. He’s hard to defend once he has the ball in the paint with his size and frame and ability to get around defenders to score. He doesn’t shy away from contact and wants to bang in the paint. Great finisher through contact and is an asset on both ends especially on the glass. Another 2026 guy out of Calloway High School.
2028 G Cemiyric Bouie was impressive over the weekend for NFE. For starters he has great vision and is able to make dime passes and create offense for his teammates. Offensively he’s special as a scorer with his ability to score from the perimeter. He has a extremely quick release that’s nearly impossible to defend as he’s able to stop on a dime and find space to score. Moorseville High School is where you can find Bouie.
2025 G Khaven Cochran was easily a top standout over the weekend. Cochran is comfortable around the perimeter shooting spot up or off the dribble and has a shifty handle that made scoring opportunities open up for him and teammates. He’s looking to score with the ball in his hands and showed his athleticism with a few highlight dunks. A nice 2025 prospect out of Central Caroll HS.
2026 G Bryce Howson is a high motor guy with big time playmaking ability. He reads the floor well and finds opportunities to score while getting by multiple levels of defense. His high skill set allows him to create space on score anywhere on the floor. He showed the ability to consistently score off isolation shot a high percentage from 3 and finished in the lane with crafty finishes. Look out for the junior at Decatur High.
Zaqir Roberts had a nice showing over the weekend for the Top Shottas. The 2025 prospect is great with the ball in open space as a point guard that can score with volume. He’s a great facilitator on the attack and showed the ability to finish around the rim around multiple defenders with crafty finishes. Roberts can shoot midrange or from behind the arch which is extremely important at the next level. He has improved his game each time we have seen him and looks promising as a young prospect.
Malachi Edgell is 2027 guy that caught our eye for the ATL Kings. He plays with a high motor and is a high level competitor. He plays a balanced game with his ability to shoot from perimeter and attack defenders off the dribble. He’s a great finisher in the paint that isn’t afraid to get physical and brings a tenacity to the game that spreads to his teammates. Edgell plays hard on the defensive end as well and is an asset on the glass. He’s a prospect to add to your watch entering his sophomore year at Douglass High.
