Elite60 Freshman Showcase (2030 – Wings)

By

The 2030 group brought a little bit of everything to Elite60. There was real size inside, wings with length and athleticism, and a guard group that consistently put pressure on defenses in different ways. What stood out was how many styles translated against strong competition, from shooting and creation to defense, physicality, and guys who simply made winning plays. The class continues to take shape nationally, and several players strengthened their case while others made sure more people left Atlanta knowing their names.

Cannon Washington | 6’7” | GA
Washington plays with a passion that simply cannot be coached. He is already one of the most explosive athletes in the 2030 class and pairs those physical gifts with a willingness to compete on both ends. At 6’7”, his athleticism and strength can turn ordinary possessions into violent finishes, rebounds, or defensive stops. The tools immediately grab your attention, but the fire he plays with is what gives Washington another dimension.

Brandon Smith | 6’5” | NC
Smith’s wiry frame, quickness, and bounce allow him to pop up around the basketball constantly. He attacks the glass instead of assuming somebody else will finish the possession and can beat bigger bodies to rebounds with his quick second jump. His length becomes even more useful once he gets into space and can extend around defenders. Smith creates production through activity, even when there is not a play designed for him.

Jaiden Rivera | 6’4” | TN
Rivera can heat up before a defense has time to figure out where the first bucket came from. The lanky wing has answers at all three levels and can manufacture points in several different ways depending on the coverage. Once he sees a couple go through, the microwave can get hot enough to change a game in a short stretch. Rivera is difficult to cool down because taking away one scoring option does not eliminate the others.

Asa Abdie-Waite Jr. | 6’4” | ENG
Abdie-Waite Jr. brought a complete wing game from England to Elite60. He can put it on the deck, attack gaps, and keep his vision once help arrives instead of getting tunnel vision toward the rim. There is substance defensively too, giving him a legitimate presence on both sides of the ball. What caught my attention was his feel, because Abdie-Waite Jr. rarely looked like he had decided what he was doing before reading the defense.

Joel Frazier | 6’3” | WV
Frazier has enough shake to put his defender in a blender and enough patience to take advantage once he creates separation. His in between game gives him somewhere to go when the rim is crowded and defenders chase him off the perimeter. On the other end, he can comfortably take assignments across the 1 through 3 spots. Frazier has options in his game, and that makes him harder to solve possession after possession.
