Bruton’s Scouting Notebook: Rock City Classic (Class of ’27 & ’28)

Rocky Mount, NC – The Rock City Classic brought out some high level talent. From start to finish, the gym stayed loud and the energy stayed high. Here are a few names that stood out in the 15u & 16u division.

Bryce West | 6’2″ G | Team Mentality Elite | Class of 2027
West is one of the top pure shooters nationally in his class—and he showed why this weekend. Lethal off the catch, smooth off the bounce, and unfazed by closeouts. He competes on both ends. Defended well and has a crafty handle to go with his shotmaking. High ceiling and a scholarship-level guard with elite work ethic.

Nylan Rush | 6’1″ CG | Team Tough NXT Pro | Class of 2027
Rush is a lefty combo with a real burst and bounce. He slashed his way to the rim consistently and showed a confident pull-up game. Played above the rim in transition and took contact well. His versatility and athleticism were on full display.

Jordan Page | 6’6″ G | Garner Road 3SSB | Class of 2027
Page is a five-star caliber talent who has clearly developed into a true guard. Handled some point guard duties, guarded 1–4, and looked comfortable in every role. Has the body, poise, and skill set to impact a high-major program early. Scored at will and made it look easy.

Keyshawn Herring | 6’2″ CG | 7th Nation | Class of 2027
Herring went nuclear in a statement game, pouring in 42 points against a stacked Garner Road squad. He hit seven threes, lived above the rim, and attacked with relentless confidence. The gym was buzzing after that performance—and rightfully so. Has the game of a big-time scorer and plays with swagger.

Jamarion Washington | 6’1″ CG | 7th Nation | Class of 2027
Washington is a physical lefty that loves to get downhill. He made threes when given space, but his bread and butter was attacking the rim and finishing with authority. Dunks hard in transition and brings energy every possession. Tough matchup for any guard that doesn’t like contact.

RJ Moore | 6’6″ SG | Garner Road 3SSB | Class of 2027
Moore is a big-time shot maker with real upside. His quick release, size at the guard spot, and poise under pressure make him one to watch. Hit clutch shots all weekend and competed on the defensive end. This will be a popular name amongst recruiting circles soon.

Jayonta Blanchard | 6’2″ CG | Bricksquad Monopoly | Class of 2027
Blanchard is a smooth scorer who picks his spots well. Knocked down shots from deep and mid-range, and showed a calm, confident approach. He didn’t force the issue and stayed aggressive when needed. Consistent all weekend.

Baganley Donzo | 6’6″ SF | Team Mentality Elite | Class of 2028 (Played Up)
Donzo played up and fit right in. Incredibly strong wing who guarded 1 through 5 in small-ball lineups. Impressed with his passing and vision, especially out of drives and post-ups. A mismatch nightmare with real upside—especially if the handle keeps improving.

Kelvin Johnson | 6’6″ PF | Griffin Elite | Class of 2027
Johnson is a physical big who controls the boards and finishes with power. He plays with high effort and doesn’t shy away from contact. Showed a soft touch inside and good timing on shot contests. Productive weekend overall.

Javon Motta | 6’2″ G | Team Mentality Elite | Class of 2027
Motta brings length and activity to the backcourt. Good slasher who showed some shot creation flashes. Defensively, he covered a ton of ground and caused problems off the ball. Has the ability to be a lockdown defender while remaining a high level scoring option on the offensive end. Scholarship level prospect.

Kasyn Chase | 5’8″ PG | Team Trezz | Class of 2027
Chase is a tough-nosed point guard with a quick first step and confidence in his handle. Vocal floor leader who got his teammates organized and made timely plays. Not afraid of big moments and hit some clutch jumpers throughout the weekend. Coaches love guards like this.

Tevaughan Bell | 6’5″ SG/SF | Carolina Swarm | Class of 2028
Bell is a long, versatile wing who stood out immediately with his size and two-way presence. Defended multiple positions, rebounded at a high level, and knocked down shots in rhythm. Has great instincts off the ball and didn’t need a ton of touches to make an impact. Quietly one of the more complete prospects in eastern NC 2028 class.

Brelyn Moses | 6’5″ CG | Team Loaded South 3SSB | Class of 2028
Moses brought serious firepower to the floor. A high-level athlete with a handle, creativity, and a fearless mentality. Scored from all over the floor, dunked anything near the rim, and buried open threes when defenders sagged off. Big-time mismatch creator with real burst and swagger. Incredibly high motor.

Jeremiah Harper | 6’3″ G | Team Wall | Class of 2028
Harper was relentless. High-motor guard that defended baseline to baseline and brought that same intensity to the offensive end. Finished through contact, knocked down open looks, and kept pressure on the rim. Plays like he’s got something to prove—and backs it up.

Tyler Pridgen | 5’9″ PG | Carolina Swarm | Class of 2028
Pridgen lit it up from deep and was a handful off the bounce. Once he crossed half court, he was a scoring threat, and defenders had to pick him up early. Creative with the ball and made the right reads. Fun to watch and hard to guard when he’s in rhythm.

Dominic Hall | 6’6″ PF | Truth Generation | Class of 2028
Hall is a real post prospect with a unique blend of size, touch, and timing. Nearly a year younger than many in his class, but still dominated his matchups at times. A lob threat that had a few impressive dunks in traffic. Blocked shots, finished around the rim, and showed a confident jumper when left open. He’s only going to keep growing and that’s a scary thought.

Antoine Moreman Jr. | 5’10” PG | Garner Road 3SSB | Class of 2028
Moreman is a certified bucket-getter with elite quickness and shot creation ability. He got to his spots whenever he wanted, hit tough shots, and played with poise. Great vision in the half court and didn’t over-dribble. Already drawing attention from scholarship-level programs—and rightfully so.

Aaron Parker | 6’6″ SF | Garner Road 3SSB | Class of 2028
Parker has all the physical tools you look for. Big wing who rebounds, defends, and plays winning basketball. Did a little bit of everything—guarded multiple spots, moved well without the ball, and scored efficiently in traffic. As his confidence grows, so will his recruiting profile.

Case Presley | 6’1″ CG | Team Loaded South 3SSB | Class of 2028
Presley is a straight-line scorer with a quick first step and a sharp handle. Showed an ability to create space off the bounce and finish plays at the rim. Defensively, he stayed locked in and forced tough possessions. Dangerous when he gets downhill or catches a defender flat-footed. Outstanding shooter from the outside.

Tylik Taylor | 6’0″ PG | Team Trezz | Class of 2029 (Played Up)
Taylor played up a division but still found ways to be productive. Quick, composed, and aggressive when he saw daylight. Hit shots when left open and wasn’t afraid to drive into the trees. Young guard with confidence and a great foundation to build on. Knows how to score.
