Bruton’s Standouts – E60 Middle School Showcase
Jalil Hill 2029 – 6’8″ F – Florida
Hill is a tantalizing prospect out of Florida that caught the eye of virtually every coach and scout in attendance. He ran the floor well, caught some tough passes and showed the ability to make turnaround jumpers. He’s at his best currently as a rim protector. Blocks almost everything within his reach if you can’t successfully move him first. His offensive ability is raw, but very promising. Will have a chance to develop into an excellent prospect.
Joshua Sanders 2029 – 6’8″ F – Georgia
Sanders is a name that has been making it’s rounds nationally for good reason. He has unreal length and fluidity for a player his age and size. He’s a natural lefty that is expanding his game and has become a pick and pop threat. He is a constant threat on the glass, especially offensively and will dunk the ball through contact if he gathers. There were a couple of plays he made in transition that positively raised some eyebrows. Shows great promise long term. Tracking as a major D1 prospect.
Kaedyn Cole 2029 – 6’6″ W – North Carolina
Cole was an absolute terror on the glass all weekend. Quickly established himself as the best rebounder in attendance from the beginning of the camp. He outworked the bulk of the competition and was a high level double-double threat throughout. Has the ability to rack up assists from the forward spot. Really good court vision for a forward and can handle the ball in transition. Will power through contact and dunk the ball over outstretched hands of rim protectors. Very good defensively and forces opponents into tough shots. At this early stage, he’s a scholarship level prospect that will have a lot of opportunities coming his way as long as he continues rounding out his game.
Jacody Terry 2029 – 6’3″ G/W – Georgia
Terry is an incredibly well-rounded player that impacts a game on both ends of the floor. He can rebound at a high level and has a great motor. Never looks tired despite playing at a fast pace. Creates well off the dribble and can play inside against bigger and taller players. Very athletic already and can get well above the rim to finish shots. Has the makeup of a winning basketball player. Will bring a good level of poise and versatility to any team that he joins once he enters high school in another year.
Cannon Combs 2029 – 6’7″ PF – Alabama
Combs quietly had a solid showing over the weekend. He was overshadowed by a few other post players, but Combs has a solid skillset for a player with his measurables. He runs the floor well, corrals rebounds in & out of position, protects the rim and has good touch on his shot. Excels offensively as a pick and pop post player. Can finish around the rim quickly. His best playing days are ahead of him as he appears to not be done growing.
David Whitaker 2029 – 6’1″ SG – Georgia
Whitaker is a surpremely gifted athlete that possesses world class explosiveness as a young teenager. It’s downright scary how fast, quick and how high he can jump. In addition to his athleticism, he’s an excellent basketball player that has a good offensive skillset. He attacks angles well and can finish through contact. He can knock down the 3 well off the dribble and is a threat to catch lobs. If his playmaking ability for others continues to improve, we could be looking at one of the next excellent guards out of Georgia for years to come.
Austin Leonard 2029 – 6’2″ SG – Georgia
Leonard is wired to score the basketball. He’s a hard cover for almost anyone at this stage. His strength, mobility and ability to turn the corner make him a threat to get to the basket virtually every time he has the ball. He has shown the ability to move without the ball and can get hot from the outside. Leonard is at his best from the triple threat position. When creating off the bounce, he’s got some quick counter moves and routinely gets all the way to the rim on his drives. Walked away with the MVP award and rightfully so.
Trace Adcock 2029 – 6’1” PG – Georgia
Adcock is a lethal shot maker from 25+ and even beyond. In addition to his shot-making ability, he’s an underrated ball-handler that can make things happen at the lead guard spot. He sees over the top of most defenders and can rack up assists when defenders decide to try and overly pressure him. His finishing at the rim is efficient on both sides of the basket, and he’s always a threat to make a play with or without the ball.
Emory Chaney 2029 – 5’8” PG – North Carolina
Chaney is a poised young floor general that plays with incredible pace and has an excellent skillset. No defender had consistent success staying in front of him. He’s at his best when he’s getting downhill and has an excellent floater. When he’s looking to run the offense, he makes excellent passes and creates easy opportunities for everyone on the floor. Look forward to him logging good minutes as an 8th grader playing varsity basketball.
Elijah Ross 2029 – 5’8″ PG – Georgia
Ross arguably had the tightest handle of any guard in attendance. Nobody could pick his pocket and it was incredibly difficult for defenses to pressure him into giving up the ball. His creativeness at the point guard position made life easy for his teammates. All they had to do was keep moving, set good screens and they would be rewarded. He also kept defenders honest with his shotmaking and floaters. His growth physically will probably determine the type of prospect he’ll become, because he already possesses the skill of a top tier point guard.
Zaire Colbert 2029 – 5’11” PG – Florida
Colbert is an elite shot maker from long-range but is also a deadly scorer from the mid-range area. Additionally, he’s a high level finisher at or around the rim. Uses the glass well and can finish equally well with his off-hand. Rarely is pushed away from his comfort zone. Very strong player for his size and let’s his game talk for him. Has excellent body-language and changes speeds well. Could envision him being a lead guard for a high caliber high school program immediately once he reaches high school.
Peyton Easley 2029 – 5’10” PG – Georgia
Easley has improved tremendously in the past season. He’s fast with the ball in his hands and is a deadly shot maker from multiple spots on the floor. Anytime he has the ball in his hands, he’s a threat to score, but he is also a good passer that can create for his teammates. Peyton does a good job attacking angles and routinely blows by defenders with his first step. An underrated ability he also possesses is his finishing touch around the basket. Has the look of a scholarship-level point guard down the road.
Dante Caviness 2029 – 5’6” PG- North Carolina
Caviness is a fast point guard that uses his speed to his advantage on both ends of the floor. Ball-handlers had a hard time creating against him. On the opposite side of the ball, his speed was an issue, and he made it a habit to get into the painted area. Caviness is a player that will have a lot of success in the future. He plays the game the right way and appears to be a fun player to coach.
Armani Morris 2029 – 6’1″ SG – Florida
Arguably, Morris may have been the best on ball-defender in attendance. He made it incredibly difficuly for ball-handlers to create against him. Plays a chest to chest style of defense and has long arms that enable him to pluck the ball away consistently without fouling. Has the athleticism to play above the rim in transition. Makes shots from all over the floor and has cat-like quickness with the ball. Spins in and out of traffic when creating his own offense.
Jacob Reid 2029 – 6’4″ SF – Georgia
Exceptionally gifted athlete that can make electric plays in transition. Catches lobs and explodes to the basket with relative ease. Uses his leaping ability well to rebound the basketball and is a constant threat for weakside blocks on the defensive end. Has an underrated ability to create for himself in the painted area. Makes quick moves down low and finishes well around the rim through contact. Has the potential to develop into a full-time wing should he continue improving his ball-handling ability.
Deuce Grayson 2030 – 5’10” PG – Georgia
Grayson plays a mature brand of basketball for a player in his grade. He’s a lefty that defenders struggle to guard due to his ability to create with either hand. In pick and roll, he’s an efficient shot maker off the bounce, and he is a good passer. Does a good job of making reads as a primary ball-handler. He can run the show for his team or he can fill in as a primary scorer if needed.
Preston Elliott 2029 – 6’1” G – Florida
Preston is a long and rangy guard prospect that knows how to use his length, skill, and fluidity to his advantage. He’s an athletic guard that is creative with his dribble and can be difficult to contain. Elliot plays a left-hand dominant style that allows him to get all the way to the basket with relative ease, but he’s adept at pulling up for jumpsuits as well. This kid is a well-rounded player that can fill up a stat sheet.
Braeden Greenup 2029 – 6’2″ SG – North Carolina
Greenup has the makings of a scoring machine. He’s quick on his feet, is a natural lefty and can score the ball in multiple ways. Bigger defenders aren’t quick enough to keep him in front. He attacks them relentlessly and typically blows right by them. Smaller defenders didn’t have much of an answer either. He’s got excellent footwork in the post and his pull-up jumper was on the money. In addition to being a skilled scorer inside and outside, he can crash the glass and defend well enough to play on the wing when necessary. It’s early, but signs point to him developing into a versatile double-double threat.
Zaiden Nelson 2029 – 6’0” PG – Georgia
Nelson is a heady point guard that scores and distributes the basketball at a high level. His pace is outstanding, and he understands how to allow plays to develop naturally without forcing the issue. He’s incredibly difficult to defend, and his confidence level shows with his body language. I have no doubt that he’ll be a top-level contributor at the high school level in a year.
Boston Sheppard 2029 – 5’9″ PG – Florida
Sheppard has a smooth game and plays with great confidence. His game brings a calm presence to his team. Can really light it up from the perimeter as a primary scorer, but is well equipped to run a team and make others around him elevate their level of play. He’s nearly automatic when in rhythm from the outside. Excels in pick and roll and can also be a bigtime threat in transition. Has a very mature game for a player at this stage.
King Araujo 2029 – 6’1″ CG – Georgia
This kid is an outstanding ball-handler that can create a shot against virtually any defender. He’s got a crafty handle and can shake defenders completely out of his line of sight. He’s got a pure shot and gets his jumper off quickly, even when he creates his shot off the dribble. Never stops attacking the paint, but shoots the ball well enough to force defenses into overplaying him. Has good court vision as well, so defenses can’t simply force him into shots. Will rack up assists if teams aren’t careful. At some point in the next few years, he could be a consistent point-assist double-double threat.
Jayvis Johnson 2029 – 5’10” CG – Florida
Johnson is a fun young guard to watch. Very electric style of play and is a relentless paint attacker when he’s the primary ball-handler. He gets after it defensively and crashes the glass well for a guard prospect. Can get above the rim and will attempt to finish above the rim through contact. Has the makings of a stat-sheet stuffer that is versatile enough to comfortably produce on both ends of the floor at either guard spot.
Kenneth “KJ” Reed 2029 – 6’2″ SG – Georgia
Reed is a player you absolutely can’t leave open. He’ll light it up from the perimeter without any hesitation. He’s got ample size for a guard, so he’s not afraid to attack a defenders chest while driving to the basket. Does a good job of positioning himself for setting up turn-around jumpers. Very long arms and good athleticism. Has a load of potential as a big-guard prospect. Natural scorer with a game that translates well to high school in the coming year.
Jeremiah Anderson 2029 – 6’1″ PG – Georgia
Anderson is a high-level shot maker that has deep range on his jumper. Can comfortably bury shot attempts from past 20+ feet away. Quick on his feet on the defensive side of the ball. Does a good job of staying between the ball and his man on defense. Long arms allow him to corral rebounds out of position and he can make some tough passes over the top of defenses. Absorbs contact well on drives to the basket and has good vision.
Braylen Alexander 2029 – 6’1″ SG – Georgia
Outstanding offensive threat that plays to his strengths. Has a picturesque pull-up jumper from 3 point range and is just as efficient from the mid-range area. Can back down smaller guards and punish them from the mid-post. Moves well without the ball in his hands and makes quick decisions once he receives the ball. Converts at a high rate around the rim. Rarely ever stops moving. Excellent rebounder for a guard. Impact player that has the type of game to fit almost any style of offense.
Kingston Clahar 2029 – 5’11” CG – Georgia
Clahar is an athletic combo guard that can score the ball in bunches and can create for others. Plays dominant to his left, but defenders still struggle to make him change his driving angles. Beats his man off the dribble with well-timed changes of direction and can dribble straight into a pull-up jumper while his defender is off-balance. Has a sturdy frame for a young guard and defensively is rarely ever beat off the dribble. Has the tools to be a defensive-stopper while also potentially being a high scoring guard.
Treu Taylor 2029 – 5’6″ PG – Georgia
Taylor is a fast young point guard that is a consistent knockdown shooter from long-range. His ability to pull-up and bury jumpers creates havoc in the mind of most defenders. Despite his size, defenses have no choice but to guard him straight up or he’ll burn you. His handle is tight and his unselfishness leads to a ton of easy scoring opportunities for his teammates as long as they continue to move when he has the ball. He gets after it defensively and teams rarely have a chance to try and post him up. High IQ point guard with a deadly jumper.
Jacori Thompson 2029 – 6’6″ SF – Georgia
Thompson is as versatile as they come. He’s got the size of a post prospect, but has the game of a wing. Defends the ball well on the perimeter and moves his feet well as a post defender. Can easily move back and forth between positions on either end of the floor. Is always a threat to knockdown jumpshots from the wing, but is not afraid to mix it up inside when needed. From a long term standpoint, he has as much potential as anyone in his class. He’s tall, skilled and full of confidence. It’s easy to envision college programs taking notice early on once he enters high school.
Kei-Sean Roberts 2030 – 5’4″ PG – Georgia
Roberts is an incredible floor general that should be considered one of the best in his class. He has an exceptional ability to create and shakes by defenders of all shapes and sizes. He typically plays up and it’s easy to see why he fits right in. Has a next level feel for the game at a young age. Makes excellent reads against zone defenses and has an incredible reaction time to defenses that attempt to blitz him with traps. Excellent at completing a play around the basket and makes pinpoint passes to the open man.
Symeon Watson 2029 – 6’5″ SG – Georgia
Watson was only able to participate in 1 game, but he was a dominant force in that one matchup. Moves well for a player his height and has the skillset of a player that will eventually play either full-time as a small forward or as a tall shooting guard. Knocked down shots from deep range with good fluidity, created off the dribble and finished at the basket well with either hand. Showed an excellent motor on both sides of the ball and he has incredibly length. Tantalizing prospect long term that can make quite the name for himself in the coming months.
