Decatur High School is starting 2026 on fire. Coming off of a major victory against 6A powerhouse Grayson, Decatur gains another statement win against Woodward Academy who starts 3 Nationally Ranked Prospects.
2026 PG #11 Bryce Howson vs Woodward Academy
-Howson controlled the pace of the floor throughout the entirety of the game from a fascinating standpoint. In the second half he took over from behind the arc and knocked down the very shots that would lead to Decatur’s win. Howson’s is a true floor general who is poised, controlled, and ready to take over when needed.
2026 CG #5 Jason Welborn vs Woodward Academy
-Welborn has probably had one of the best seasons in the state as he is a very big piece to Decatur’s almost perfect record. He continued his streak last night after coming out and giving the Bulldogs an early lead and the energy that translated throughout the gym. Welborn is an legit 3 level scorer with an electric energy and will to win.
As of January 9, 2026 Decatur is 1st in the 5A Region with a 7-0 record and 15-2 on the season.
