Mathurine’s Report: Sewer Elite Classic

Rauan Rodrigues 2024 I 7’1 F I Furtah Prep

The 7 foot lefty, made a good impression in my first look. He displayed a soft touch around the rim and a high ability to run the floor well. He did a good job establishing position as well showing his strength and would throw down some aggressive jams as the trailer man.  Rodrigues  has a good use of his length defensively as he picked up multiple blocks as well.

Victor Julio 2024 I 5’10 G I Furtah Prep

Victor was electric. He understood the concept of feeding his big, and was always a play ahead. He was constantly communicating and making sure players were in there spot.  It almost felt like anytime he touched the ball it was leading to a basket or hockey assist.  Julio is a solid high quality guard and finished with 12pts and 12ast in win over Arlington Christian.

Shamar Madden 2028 I 5’11 G I Arlington Christian

I was interested to see how this group was coming along, after losing Carter and London.  Shamar Madden had an obvious look of youth and the 8th grader caught my attention the moment he was rolled out as a starter.  He was very comfortable with his mid-range game and knew his spots on the court.  He did a good job of getting to the rim and free-throw. You can see the talent and above- average skillset early.  As he continues to build his confidence he will develop into a true leader this Arlington squad

Tim Smith 2024 I 6’4 G/F I Central Gwinnett

TS is a smooth scorer.  I felt like I was watching a baby Kaleb Banks.  He knew his spots, and used minimal dribbles to effective score.  I would like to see more energy and aggression on the defensive end, but this kid is built to score. 25 points in win over Cherokee.

Lawrence Sanford 2025 I 6’2 G I Cherokee

My nickname for Lawrence since I first saw him was Mr. Wiggle due to his shiftiness. Not many players can stay in front of him and it was on display in his matchup with Central Gwinnett. What I liked the most is it was not his best shooting night but he did not let that affect his game or body language. He made up for it by crashing the glass and getting teammates involved to contribute the best way he could. Still finished with 18pts and 8reb.

Tahai Morgan 2024 I 6’0 G I Lanier

Tahai is a bull with the rock.  He comes in at about 6’0, but has the frame and low base that defenders hate to guard for a full contest. He is aggressive getting to the rim, a pest defensively, and can knock down the jumper.  His energy alone is enough to help this group pull out wins. Consistency will be key.   17pts, 5 assist, 2 steals in win

Dre Cowan 2024 I 6’3 G I Lanier

Every time I watch DC he continues to look the part and can be a crucial x-factor to this group.  He is smooth in his play, likes the baseline jumper, and doesn’t waste opportunities with his dribble. You can tell Cowan is still working his way back after being out for 3 months and the first 3 games of the season due to injury.  As his strength and conditioning improves Cowan will be able to make even more plays for Lanier.   Lanier’s chemistry will be a key factor in making a play-off run. 18points, 4 assists in the win.

ADDITIONAL STANDOUTS

Amari Morgan 2025 I 6’5 F I Lanier
Athletic, bouncy, the one they look to to make an energy play and get the crowd going.

Chezi Essel 2026 I 6’3 G I Arlington Christian
Another one of ACA’s building blocks. Played a mature game. Solid mid-range and can get to the rim.

Davon Aikens 2024 I 6’0 G I Arlington Christian
Senior of ACA was a walking bucket. Can create well off the dribble.

Willard Thompson 2024 I 6’2 G I St. Andrews
Sniper. Went 5/8 from the 3 and really knew his spots in the court.
