Note Worthy Hoopers (Grade School): Peach State Explosion II

The Grade School division displayed the most skill and teamwork throughout the Peach State Explosion II

Legend Cotton  | Honor | 2032

Legend Cotton is a name to remember. This big guard had his way operating with the ball in his hands. When guards were on him, they were too small and when bigs were on him, they were either too slow or their lateral movements weren’t up to par. Cotton played with undeniable physicality down low and was big time on the boards. He finished strong through contact every chance possible and was a true mismatch.

Amare Miller | Honor | 2032

Miller is a diminutive guard that played with the upmost aggression on the defensive end. From pressing the ball full court and causing frustration to his opponents to pushing the ball up the court each time. Miller gave his opponents no chances to rest on either end. Paint touch after paint touch, utilizing his floater and even sticking his nose inside for rebounds against the bigs.

Mason Rivers | E2G-Legacy | 2032

Rivers is a guard that was thriving from behind the arc. He got to his spots early, stayed shot ready and showed he could move well without the ball. Rivers has such a smooth shooting stroke that every time he shot, I thought it was good. Smooth and consistent shooting stroke and a stepback jump shot which was his go to that defenders couldn’t stop. Easily one of the best young shooters in attendance.

Cameron Ellis | E2G-Legacy | 2032

Out of the young age groups, there weren’t too many facilitating guard like Ellis that could also score the ball. With a ton of attention drawn to Ellis, he showed his ability to create for his teammates. When the attention was minimal, Ellis took advantage of isolation situations. Shifty guard that knows how to set up his man for the best angles to score.

Chase King | AE5 | 2033

One of the few lead guards to catch my eye during the morning slate. Very active defensively, always handled the ball with his head up ensuring to make on time passes to his teammates and had no problem finishing around the rim with his go to euro step.

Ethan Williams | AE5 | 2033

Two way guard that was very disruptive on the defensive end. Williams not only made cross court passes tough with his ability to pick them off but on ball passes as well. While forcing several turnovers, he was often the first one to fill the lanes to finish easy layups. Williams also knocked down the open three when the opportunity presented itself.

Calan Howard | AE5 | 2033

Howard is another small guard that plays with a ton of aggression. It was his offensive game that truly impressed. His patience when running his team’s offense in championship play stood out immediately. His ability to set guys up and effectively use the pick and roll action was his bread and butter. Understanding when to make certain passes, when to get deep in the paint and when to take the mid-range jump shot. His overall floor game was a thing of beauty.
