Atlanta Hardwood Classic: Stock Risers!
Cumming, GA — The Atlanta Hardwood Classic took place this past weekend at Dobbs Creek Recreational Center and delivered one of the most talent-rich grassroots events of the spring. Hosted in the heart of Georgia, the tournament featured elite matchups and breakout performances from some of the South’s top prospects, ranging from rising seniors to young middle school standouts. Below is a class-by-class breakdown of a few high school players who separated themselves with their production, poise, and potential.
Class of 2025

6’1” SG Jonathan Pickering | Effingham Bulldogs (GA)
Jonathan is an unsigned senior who plays with an edge and a sense of urgency. He’s athletic and wired to score, always in attack mode whether he’s getting downhill or creating off the bounce. What sets him apart is how active he is on both ends of the floor. He defends with purpose, disrupts passing lanes, and turns defense into offense. Offensively, he can knock down shots from outside and finish through contact. He plays with the hunger of someone who knows every possession matters. A late prospect who could be a steal for the right program.
Class of 2026

6’6” SF Agie Aguelet | Team S.M.A.S.H. Pro (GA)
Agie is a long, athletic wing with real two-way value. He consistently knocked down spot-up threes and showed good rhythm shooting off the catch. Defensively, he took pride in locking down his assignment and used his length to close out and contest. He finished plays above the rim and ran the floor well in transition. His tools are obvious, and when he plays with confidence, his game opens up in a big way.

6’6” SF Daniel Hollis | Team S.M.A.S.H. Pro (GA)
Daniel is a highlight reel waiting to happen. He’s one of the most explosive players in his class and showed it with multiple poster-level dunks over the weekend. The athleticism is high level, and his upside is just starting to take shape.

What caught eyes even more was how quick he is off the bounce—he gets into the paint at will and keeps defenders chasing. Defensively, he’s a pest. He applies pressure full court and disrupts rhythm with quick hands. One of the more refined two-way guards in his class. Always competing. Always in control.

Jaelon is a powerful forward who knows how to use his strength. He rebounds well, finishes with soft touch inside, and gets off the ground quickly for dunks. He doesn’t try to play outside of his skillset and stays efficient with his touches. His frame and athleticism make him a tough cover in the paint. Every team needs a forward like this who plays hard and controls the glass.

6’10” SF/PF Rho Omed | Team S.M.A.S.H. Pro (GA)
Rho might have the highest ceiling of any prospect in the gym. A skilled wing at 6’10” with guard-like touch and mechanics, he’s a legit inside-outside mismatch. He rebounds it, has soft hands and can knock down shots in pick and pop situations. The versatility he brings at his size is rare. Very crafty handling the ball on the wing. As his confidence continues to rise, so will his stock at a high level.

6’2” SG Wallace “DJ” Washington | One Dream Elite (MS)
DJ is a bucket. He’s got a solid frame and plays with pace, confidence, and bounce. His jumper is consistent and he can get to his spots off one or two dribbles. Defensively, he holds his own and showed flashes of being a high-level two-way guy. His athleticism and shot-making make him a tough matchup at the guard spot.
Class of 2027

David is a strong inside presence who plays through contact and finishes with both hands. He’s got good touch around the rim and isn’t afraid to mix it up on the glass. He gets off the floor well and dunks everything in his area. He runs the floor hard and has the motor coaches love in bigs. Efficient, physical, and still developing. One to start tracking early if you’re a college coach.

6’7” SF Galen Roberts | Georgia Gators (GA)
Galen is an athletic wing with real scoring instincts. He’s a smooth slasher who finishes above the rim and knows how to create space with one or two moves. Lob threat, mismatch potential, and comfortable operating in transition. He’s still sharpening his perimeter game but already produces at a high level. High-upside wing who flashes both now and next.

He keeps his dribble tight, uses angles well, and makes quick decisions. Ferdi doesn’t waste possessions and plays like a seasoned vet. A fearless competitor with serious production.

6’0” CG Tucker Engert | Georgia Generals (GA)
Tucker is an ultra-competitive guard who gets buckets and sets the tone for his team. He shot it well from deep and attacked closeouts with purpose. His ability to find teammates on the move gave him added value as a playmaker. He doesn’t shy away from pressure and always seems to make a play when it’s needed. Heart, hustle, and skill all in one.
