DECATUR PULLED A 64-61 VICTORY AGAINST A YOUNG PAIDEIA TEAM

Decatur pulled out the victory against a young Paideia team, 64-61. 2026 guard Bryce Howson controlled the game in true point guard fashion by analyzing matchups, taking what the defense gave him and knocking down key shots from the mid range. Howson got wherever he desired on the floor when Paideia played man to man defense. Fellow sophomore, Jason Welborn made some clutch buckets and big defensive stops to help propel Decatur past Paideia. Welborn had an efficient game overall. With him being a three level scoring threat, the defense played him close which opened up the game for for shooters like senior wing Luke Brooks who piled up 4 threes in the win. Nice victory for Decatur as they move to 1-1 on the season.

Paideia got down early and fought their way back, but came up short. They were led by their backcourt of sophomore guard CJ Harper and freshman guard Tristan Mitchell. Harper got it going late by scoring in transition and doing what he does best getting constant paint touches. He got his teammates quality looks in the 2nd half. As for Mitchell, he was sharp in the half court, getting to the basket and knocking down the long ball. Games like this will allow Paideia to learn and grow throughout the season. As they’re young and talented with 4 sophomores and 1 freshman receiving a bulk of the minutes. Good group to follow their progression, Paideia moves to 1-1 on the season.
