Freshman Watch

Two 2026 guards, Aiden Aponte (Galloway) and Jayden Crawford (Cristo Rey Atlanta) led their teams into a match with identical records. This game between Galloway and Cristo Rey Atlanta was such an even matchup it came down to the final seconds, with Galloway pulling out the victory at home.

Aiden Aponte has a fluent jumper and a good overall feel for the game. He hit some big shots early in the game that allowed Galloway to withstand a scoring flurry from Cristo Rey Atlanta. Aponte has a unique passion for the game.  As Aponte continues to develop and grow I believe he will be most effective as an impactful 3-D wing with the ability to handle the ball.  Wing players are the glue for championship teams at all levels.  Aponte led his team with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals.

Jayden Crawford is a certified bucket getter. As cliche as it sounds, that’s the best way to describe Crawford’s game.  Scoring an efficient 35 points in a tough road loss, Crawford displayed the will and grit to keep his team in the game.  Crawford is a special scorer that can score on all three levels. From breaking down defenders, to catching and shooting, to slashing ability, Crawford already has a scoring arsenal. In these next four years he is going to scoring thousands of points and garner primetime attention.
